Create a Lowvyn Account on the App or Web: Why It Helps You, and Us
You can use most of Lowvyn without signing up. Here is the honest, detailed case for creating an account on the app or the web, both the ways it helps you shop and the ways it makes Lowvyn better for every Canadian. Free to Use.

By Abhi, Founder of Lowvyn
Most of Lowvyn works without an account. You can browse products, read the full price history, check the Lowvyn Score, and see the Deal or No Deal verdict without ever signing in. The browser extension shows you the same data right on a retailer's product page while you shop. None of that is behind a login, and it never will be. The verdict on whether a price is genuinely good is the core of what we do, and it stays open to everyone.
So when I ask you to create an account, I want to be straight about why. There are two honest reasons, and I will give you both. One is what an account does for you. The other is what it does for Lowvyn. Most companies only talk about the first and quietly bank the second. I would rather put both on the table and let you decide.
What an account does for you
Everything follows you across the app and the web. Without an account, whatever you are tracking lives on a single device or a single browser. Track a stroller on your work laptop and it is stranded there. With an account, your tracked items, your lists, and the target prices you set all live on your account instead. Add a car seat from the couch, then stand in the store aisle three days later and pull up the same list on your phone. Sign in from a tablet, a partner's laptop, or a library computer and it is all exactly where you left it. If you and your partner are shopping for the same nursery, you can both see and add to the same list instead of texting links back and forth.
Scan a barcode in the app to settle it on the spot. This is the moment Lowvyn was built for. You are standing in the store, holding the box, the shelf tag says "sale," and you genuinely cannot tell if that is a real discount or a sticker. Open the Lowvyn app, point it at the barcode, and in a few seconds you see how today's price compares to that product's own history, plus the Lowvyn Score and the verdict. No typing the product name, no guessing. You decide at the shelf with the same data you would have at home, which is the difference between hoping a sale is good and knowing it.
Price drops come to you instead of you chasing them. Prices in Canada move around far more than most people realise, and the good window is often short. Without an account you would have to keep checking by hand and hope you catch it. With an account, you set the price you would happily pay, then get on with your week. When something you are tracking falls to your target, we let you know. Set it once for a shortlist of five or ten products and let the alerts do the watching, which is exactly how big purchases like baby gear or a new laptop tend to work: you are not buying today, you are buying when the price is right.
Save a search and let us watch for the deal. Sometimes the deal you want simply is not live yet. Describe what you are shopping for in plain words, and if nothing is worth buying right now, save that search as a deal watch. Lowvyn keeps looking on your behalf and tells you the moment something that fits your description drops to a price worth acting on. You describe what you want once, and we keep an eye out so you do not have to keep coming back to check.
Keep your shortlist organised. When you are comparing more than a couple of things, a flat list gets messy fast. With an account you can group the products you are weighing against each other, sort them into separate lists, and tag them however makes sense to you, so a busy watchlist stays readable at a glance.
Creating an account is free, and the tools that matter most, the verdict, the price history, and the cross-retailer comparison, are free for everyone whether you sign in or not. An account adds convenience and reach on top of that, not a paywall in front of it.
What your account does for Lowvyn
Here is the part most companies leave out, and the part I think you deserve to hear plainly.
It tells us what Canadians actually want to track. Every product a real person adds is a signal about what matters to shoppers right now. We use those signals to refresh the prices on popular items more often, and to add products to our catalogue before the next person goes looking for them. Price data is only as useful as it is fresh, and real accounts are what tell us where to spend our effort. The more shoppers who sign in, the fresher and more complete the data becomes, and not just for you, for everyone who checks that product after you.
It helps us tell real shoppers from noise. A large share of what hits our site is automated crawlers and bots, not people. That noise can drown out the real signal of what Canadians care about. A verified account is a clear marker of a genuine shopper, which lets us point our limited scraping and refresh budget at the products people actually use rather than at traffic that will never buy anything. Your account quietly makes the whole system smarter about where to look.
It makes the deals page better for the next person. Signed-in shoppers can submit community deals they spot in the wild, including at stores we do not track yet. Those submissions surface finds we would otherwise miss and turn the deals page into something the community builds together, not just something we publish at you.
It decides what we build next. Knowing who actually uses Lowvyn, and what they track, is how we choose which retailers and which categories to add. Baby gear was the wedge. Electronics came next. Where we go after that, and which stores we invest the work to support, is guided by what real accounts are tracking, not by our guesses.
Put together, this is how a price tracker grows into what we are really building, which is Canada's cost-of-living intelligence platform: a clear, honest picture of what things actually cost for Canadian households, and when to buy them. Accounts are the foundation of that, and every single one moves it forward.
What we will not do
I want to be equally clear about the limits. We do not sell your data. Your account exists to make a better free product, not to be the product we quietly resell. Lowvyn earns its money in one way: when you choose to buy through a link we tracked, the retailer pays us a small commission, at no extra cost to you. That is the entire business model, and you can read the full affiliate disclosure any time. No hidden data deals, no surprise charges.
How to create one
On the web: go to lowvyn.com/signup, enter your email, and verify it. The whole thing takes about a minute.
On the app: download the Lowvyn app, tap sign up, and use the same email. Anything you track on the app shows up on the web, and anything you track on the web shows up on the app.
Already using the extension? Sign in with the same account and your tracked items sync straight to it, so the deals you saved while browsing follow you everywhere else.
Lowvyn is free to use. I would rather earn your trust than your subscription, and giving you an honest reason to sign up, on both sides of it, is how I would like to start.
