Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 12, 2026
Lowvyn ("we," "our," or "us") is a Canadian price tracking service operated by Abhi. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. We wrote this in plain language because nobody reads legalese.
By using Lowvyn, you acknowledge that you have read this policy. Where your express consent is required by law (for example, to send you commercial emails or to use non-essential cookies), we will ask for it specifically and separately.
What Lowvyn does
Lowvyn tracks publicly available product prices from Amazon.ca, Walmart.ca, and BestBuy.ca across product categories including baby gear, electronics, home essentials, and more. We record price changes over time and use that data to help you decide when to buy. We also offer a browser extension that lets you track prices directly from retailer pages.
Information we collect
When you create an account
If you sign up, we collect your email address and a hashed version of your password. Creating an account is optional. The core price tracking features on the website work without one.
When you use the browser extension
The Lowvyn extension reads product information (title, price, image, and product identifier) from supported retailer pages when you visit them. This is how we track prices for you.
The extension does not read any data from non-retailer websites. It does not access your browsing history, passwords, payment details, or personal messages.
Deal Overlay (extension v7.0+)
On Amazon.ca, Walmart.ca, and BestBuy.ca product pages the extension shows a small Lowvyn badge with our deal score and verdict. This involves two pieces of data collection, treated differently:
- Click attribution (always on, no consent needed). When you click "Buy via Lowvyn" on the overlay, the link goes through
api.lowvyn.com/rbefore redirecting to the retailer. We log the click with the product ID, destination retailer, and SHA-256 hashed (16-char) versions of your IP address, browser User-Agent, and referrer. We never store the original IP or User-Agent. This is standard affiliate attribution and lets us know whether the overlay generates real revenue. Retention: 90 days. - Behavioural usage analytics. The extension records anonymous events when the overlay or the cheaper-elsewhere banner is shown, expanded, dismissed, clicked, or fails to render. We use these events to understand how the overlay is used in practice and which retailer product categories matter to people. In version 7.4 and later, this analytics stream is on by default. In earlier versions it was opt-in through a first-run prompt. You can turn analytics off at any time from the extension Settings tab, and your choice is remembered across sessions.
- What each analytics event contains. Every event includes the event type (for example,
overlay_impression), the retailer name, the breadcrumb category of the page taken from the retailer's own published taxonomy (for example, "Baby & Maternity > Strollers, Car Seats & Travel"), the score shown in the overlay if any, and a random session identifier that the extension generates on your device the first time it runs. Events also include a short token derived from the product URL by SHA-256, truncated to 16 characters. This token is intended for counting distinct page views without storing the full URL. It is not a privacy-preserving hash, because anyone with the same URL can compute the same token, and given a known retailer catalogue a determined party could try each candidate URL to recover the original. We treat the token as a de-duplication aid, not as anonymisation. - What the analytics events do not contain. We do not store your IP address, your User-Agent, your email address, or your account identifier alongside these events. The session identifier is a random 64-bit value with no link to your name, email, or any Lowvyn account. We do not cross-reference the session identifier with the click attribution records described above. Retention: 180 days.
You can hide the overlay on a single product for 24 hours by clicking "Hide for 24h" in the expanded card, or disable it everywhere via the extension Settings tab.
When you visit our website
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use our site. This collects standard information like your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent. Under Canadian and international privacy law, IP addresses are generally treated as personal information, and we handle them accordingly. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish visitors. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Server logs
Our servers automatically record basic request information (IP address, request time, browser type). We use this for security and debugging. These logs are not linked to your account and are deleted within 30 days.
Automated scoring and signals
Lowvyn uses algorithms to generate the following outputs from product price history:
- Lowvyn Score (0 to 100): a composite number based on price position, freshness, stability, and other factors. See our scoring page for full details.
- Price signals such as "Buy Now," "Average," or "Wait for Drop" based on where the current price sits in the product's historical range.
- Deal verdicts such as "Real Deal" or "Above Average" based on comparing the current price to the historical average.
These outputs are informational only and do not constitute financial or purchasing advice. They are produced at the product level, not based on individual user profiling. The main factors are historical price data, all-time low and high, discount relative to average, and price volatility. Lowvyn does not use any personal information to generate these scores.
If you believe a score or signal is incorrect for a particular product, contact contact@lowvyn.com and we will review it.
Affiliate links
When you click a link to buy a product on Amazon.ca through Lowvyn, we may earn a small commission through the Amazon Associates program. This does not change the price you pay. The affiliate tag is added to the URL so Amazon knows the referral came from us.
We are a participant in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.ca.
How we use your information
- To provide price tracking and alert notifications
- To calculate price scores and deal verdicts based on historical data

What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information to anyone
- We do not share your email with third parties for marketing
- We do not track your browsing outside of supported retailers
- We do not store your payment information (we do not process payments)

Email communications (CASL)
If you opt in to price alerts or other email notifications, you are providing express consent under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every commercial email we send will:
- Identify Lowvyn as the sender
- Include a valid contact email address
- Include a clear unsubscribe link that takes effect within 10 business days
You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by emailing contact@lowvyn.com.
Third party services
We use the following services to operate Lowvyn:
- Fly.io for hosting (servers located in Toronto, Canada)
- Google Analytics for website usage data
- Amazon Associates for affiliate commission tracking
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum information needed for each service to function. Some of these providers process data in the United States or other jurisdictions where data protection regulations may differ from those in Canada.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored on servers hosted by Fly.io in Toronto, Canada. Passwords are hashed before storage (we cannot read them). All connections use HTTPS encryption.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no online service can guarantee complete security. If we discover a breach of security safeguards that poses a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals directly, notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by PIPEDA, and maintain a record of the breach.
Data retention
Account information is kept as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information within 30 days. Server logs are kept for up to 30 days. Analytics data is retained in aggregated form for up to 26 months. Product price data (which is not personal information) is kept indefinitely because it is the core of the service.
Your rights
You can:
- Access your data by logging into your account
- Delete your account from your profile settings (this removes your email, tracked items, and alerts)
- Uninstall the extension at any time to stop all retailer page data collection
- Turn off Deal Overlay analytics from the extension Settings tab. Click attribution is a separate system and is only triggered when you click "Buy via Lowvyn". If you do not click that button, no click attribution record is created. You can also disable the overlay itself from the Settings tab, which stops both streams entirely.
- Opt out of analytics using the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies
- Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email we send
For any other privacy requests, email contact@lowvyn.com.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy inquiry, you have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
Lowvyn is not directed at children. Our Terms of Service require users to be at least 14 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 14. If you believe we may have collected personal information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. For material changes, we will provide reasonable advance notice through email (where we have your email address) or an on-site notice. For non-material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
