Strollers are the most expensive baby gear purchase for most families

A full size stroller in Canada can cost anywhere from $100 for a basic umbrella stroller to over $900 for a premium travel system. Most parents end up spending between $250 and $500.

At that price point, even a 15% discount is worth $40 to $75. And stroller prices move more than most people expect.

We track stroller prices across Amazon.ca, Walmart.ca, and Best Buy Canada every day. Here is what the data shows.

Price differences between retailers are significant

Stroller pricing varies considerably across the three retailers we track. It is common to see a $50 to $150 difference on the same model on the same day.

Amazon.ca tends to have the most volatile pricing. Stroller prices on Amazon can change multiple times in a week. Walmart.ca pricing is more stable, with fewer fluctuations but occasional Rollback events that bring prices down. Best Buy Canada carries a smaller stroller selection but sometimes has competitive pricing on the models they do stock.

The cheapest retailer for any given stroller changes regularly. Checking all three before buying is worth the two minutes it takes.

When stroller prices drop

Stroller discounts follow a few predictable patterns.

Prime Day (July). This is historically one of the best times to buy a stroller on Amazon.ca. Brands like Graco, Baby Jogger, and Evenflo tend to see real discounts during Prime Day. Not all stroller deals during Prime Day are genuine, so check the price history before buying.

New model releases. When a stroller brand releases an updated version of a model, the previous version drops in price. This happens at different times for different brands throughout the year. If you do not need the newest features, last year's model at a discount is often the better value.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday (November). Stroller deals appear across all three retailers. The discounts are real on some models but inflated on others. Use the Lowvyn Score to tell the difference.

Boxing Day (December 26). Retailers clear end of year inventory. Strollers and travel systems are frequently included in Boxing Day sales.

Spring clearance (March to April). Some retailers discount strollers as new spring stock arrives. This is less predictable than the major sale events but worth watching for.

Popular stroller brands we track

Graco. One of the most popular stroller brands in Canada. Graco strollers cover a wide price range from budget friendly to mid range. Their travel systems (stroller plus car seat combos) are among the most tracked products on Lowvyn.

Baby Jogger. Known for the City Mini and City Select lines. Higher price point but frequently discounted during sale events. The City Mini GT2 is one of the most tracked strollers on Lowvyn.

Evenflo. Budget to mid range options. Evenflo strollers tend to have the most frequent price changes, making them good candidates for price tracking.

UPPAbaby. Premium strollers that rarely go on sale. When they do drop in price, the discount is usually small. If you are set on an UPPAbaby, tracking the price for several months is especially important because the savings opportunities are less frequent.

How to use Lowvyn to find the best stroller price

Check the Lowvyn Score. Every stroller on Lowvyn gets a score from 0 to 100. A score above 70 means the price is in strong territory relative to its history. Below 40 means you should wait if you can.

Look at the price history chart. The chart on each product page shows how the price has moved over time. You can see seasonal patterns, price spikes, and the all time low at a glance.

Compare across retailers. Lowvyn shows you which retailer currently has the best price for each stroller. This changes frequently, especially around sale events.

Set a target price. If you know the stroller you want but the price is not right yet, set a target price in the Lowvyn extension. You will get notified when the price drops to your target.

The bottom line

Strollers are a big purchase and the price difference between buying at the right time and the wrong time can easily be $75 to $150. Tracking the price for a few weeks before buying gives you the information you need to make a confident decision.
