Lowvyn Extension Update: What Changed and What We Are Working On

What is new

The latest version of the Lowvyn extension adds support for Walmart.ca and BestBuy.ca alongside Amazon.ca. You can now track prices and view price history across all three Canadian retailers from one extension.

Other changes include improved price extraction accuracy and better handling of product pages that load content dynamically.

A note on how pricing works

Lowvyn does not have access to official product APIs from Amazon, Walmart, or Best Buy. We read product information directly from the web pages you visit. This works well most of the time, but there are situations where it can produce inaccurate results:

• Retailer layout changes can temporarily break price extraction until we update our code.
• Flash sales or time limited deals may not be captured immediately.
• Personalised pricing (where different users see different prices) means the price you see might differ from what Lowvyn records.
• Some product pages load prices dynamically after the initial page load, which can cause brief delays in detection.

We are transparent about these limitations because we want you to trust the data you see in Lowvyn. When we cannot confidently extract a price, we skip it rather than show an incorrect number.

Why we do not have API access yet

Official retailer APIs require demonstrating consistent user traffic and a track record. As a new product, we have not yet met those thresholds. We are actively working towards it. In the meantime, the web page approach gives us broad coverage at the cost of occasional accuracy issues.

How Lowvyn earns revenue

Lowvyn uses affiliate links. When you click through to a retailer from Lowvyn and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is standard practice for price comparison tools.

We do not prioritise products based on which ones earn us higher commissions. The Lowvyn Score and deal verdicts are calculated purely from price data.

• Adding the Lowvyn Score and deal verification to the extension overlay.
• Building user profiles that sync between the extension and the website.
